one-time thorough service
flat rate, eco-grade
Over 60% of LA homes we service chose us because conventional products were triggering asthma, eczema, or pet reactions. The switch pays back in one visit.
Silver Lake family switched to eco service after their toddler started reacting to conventional cleaner residue. No reactions since week one.
Pets, kids, pregnancy, asthma, chemical sensitivities, allergies. We scope the product kit to your household before the first visit.
Plant-based, EPA Safer Choice products. HEPA-filtered vacuums. Freshly laundered microfiber cloths. No cross-contamination from other homes.
We open windows, ventilate, and let surfaces air-dry. Because the products are non-toxic, you can re-enter any room immediately after we finish.
We publish our full product list on our site. If you want a specific brand (Branch Basics, Seventh Generation, ECOS), tell us and we will source it.
A dozen LA cleaning services will quote you. Here is why our clients stick around for years.
Every product we use carries the EPA Safer Choice seal or equivalent third-party certification. No greenwashing, no 'natural' marketing claims without backing.
Our vacuums capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns — dust mites, pet dander, pollen, mold spores. Standard vacuums just redistribute fine particulates.
Most LA cleaning companies reuse microfiber cloths between homes. We launder ours after every home in fragrance-free, dye-free detergent. Zero transfer of pets, chemicals, or allergens between clients.
Cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, saltwater aquariums — our products are safe around all of them. We have cleaned homes with rare exotics for years without incident.
Many green cleaning services charge 20-30% more for 'eco' service. We do not. The green option is our default, and our rates are flat.
Our staff is trained on cleaning protocols that minimize aerosolized dust and particulate matter. Important for anyone with asthma, COPD, or seasonal allergies.
Same crew, same standards, from the Westside to the Valley. Tap your neighborhood for local specifics.
Eco-friendly cleaning in Los Angeles is one of the most marketed and most misunderstood categories in the whole home services industry. Every LA cleaner claims 'green' now. Most of them mean they own one bottle of Mrs. Meyer's and a bottle of vinegar. Real green cleaning is an operational choice, not a branding choice — it affects which products you buy, which vacuums you use, how you launder your cloths, how you train staff, and how you scope every job. This page is an honest walk-through of what we actually do, why we do it, and how to evaluate any other LA cleaning service that claims to be eco-friendly.
Start with the product standard. The only meaningful certification for cleaning products in the United States is the EPA Safer Choice seal. It is a rigorous third-party certification that evaluates every ingredient in a product for acute and chronic toxicity, persistence in the environment, and human safety. Products with the seal have been vetted by EPA scientists. Products without the seal that claim 'natural' or 'green' or 'plant-based' have not been vetted by anyone — those are marketing words with no regulatory meaning. Our full product kit is EPA Safer Choice certified or equivalent (some specialty products are certified through Green Seal or ECOLOGO, which are comparable). We publish the list. If an LA cleaner cannot tell you the name of every product they use, that is your answer on whether they are actually green.
The next layer is what we do not use. We do not use chlorine bleach. We do not use ammonia. We do not use quaternary ammonium compounds ('quats', common in conventional disinfectants — linked to respiratory issues). We do not use synthetic fragrances or 'parfum' (umbrella term for hundreds of undisclosed chemicals, common asthma trigger). We do not use phthalates. We do not use 2-butoxyethanol or other glycol ethers. We do not use formaldehyde-releasers. All of these are common ingredients in conventional cleaning products, and all of them have documented health concerns for long-term exposure. Our approach is: if it is not proven safe, we do not use it.
Here is what we use instead. Hydrogen peroxide at 3% for sanitization — as effective as bleach against SARS-CoV-2, norovirus, and common bacteria, with no corrosive residue. Citric acid for hard water and scale. Baking soda for scrubbing. Plant-based surfactants for general cleaning (coconut-derived, palm-derived from sustainable sources). Enzymes for protein stains (pet urine, food, organic odors). Essential oils only where the client wants scent (otherwise unscented). This kit handles 95% of what a cleaning crew needs to do, and it is non-toxic.
HEPA vacuum filtration is the piece most people do not think about. Indoor air quality is largely determined by particulate matter — dust mites, pet dander, pollen, mold spores, PM2.5 from traffic. A vacuum without HEPA filtration picks up large debris but exhausts fine particulate matter back into the air, often at higher concentrations than before you vacuumed. HEPA-filtered vacuums capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns, meaning they actually remove fine particulates from your home rather than redistributing them. For anyone with asthma, allergies, or young children this is the single highest-impact change a cleaning service can make. We use HEPA vacuums on every job, and we replace the filters on our schedule, not the manufacturer's.
Microfiber cloth protocol is the hidden piece. Most LA cleaning services reuse microfiber cloths between homes because laundering them is expensive and time-consuming. This means chemical residue, pet dander, allergens, and whatever else from the previous home is being transferred to your home. We launder every cloth after every home in fragrance-free, dye-free detergent. It sounds obvious but it is a genuine operational and cost decision — and it is a real differentiator against services that claim eco but reuse cloths across clients.
Who this actually matters for. Families with infants and young children — skin absorption of cleaning-product residue is real, and infants breathe 2-3x more air per pound than adults, concentrating their exposure. Families with pets, especially exotic pets, birds, and aquariums — ammonia and bleach are especially harmful to small-respiratory-system animals. Pregnant clients — avoiding fragrance chemicals and glycol ethers during pregnancy is clinically recommended. Clients with asthma, COPD, or chemical sensitivities — conventional cleaning triggers symptoms in documented ways. Clients on immunotherapy or chemotherapy — immune-compromised households need low-VOC environments. And frankly, anyone who would rather not have bleach residue on their kitchen counters and a long list of chemicals on their bathroom vanity, whether or not they have a specific medical reason. The preference for non-toxic is increasingly the default LA preference, and we treat it that way.
Last piece: the myth that green cleaning is weaker than conventional. It is not, if the products are chosen correctly. Hydrogen peroxide-based sanitization is EPA-registered as effective as bleach-based sanitization. Enzyme cleaners outperform conventional products on protein stains. Citric-acid descalers are only slightly slower than muriatic acid on extreme buildup. The one area where conventional products genuinely outperform is industrial-grade mold remediation, which we refer out to licensed remediators anyway. For 99% of residential cleaning tasks, green is not a compromise — it is a better default. And when it happens to cost the same as conventional service, as it does at The Detail Crew, the only reason not to switch is habit.
